scaledl8660518If you are into photography, and use Nikon, there is one lens out there that is only spoken of in hushed tones. A lens so rare, that most people have never even seen one, much less touched it.

I’m speaking of course of the 13mm F/5.6.

This lens was produced on a very limited run throughout Nikon’s history. Every year, they would show it in their catalog, listed at a price of $10,000. For the few that have used it, it was almost a religious experience. In fact, if you took delivery of this lens in Japan, it would be blessed by a priest before being released to your obviously unworthy hands.

What makes this lens so special? It’s one of the only wide angle lenses that has almost no distortion. And while it’s very slow (F/5.6) and weighs over 3 pounds by itself, it’s coveted by many collectors and camera fanatics throughout the world. Don’t expect to find one on ebay, and they are only occasionally spotted on sites like Adorama and B&H.
