Roy OrbisonThe past seven days here at TSL have been like something out of the life of Roy Orbison – music, classic style and unspeakable tragedy.

Musically, we were astounded by the resilience of Hohner’s six-sided harmonica, while being perplexed at VW’s new buy car, get guitar promotion. Is that the first time two German-themed music posts have been blogged anywhere in the world? Would make sense…

In terms of classic style, it was another week where we couldn’t get enough, from D&G’s new military obsession and Bentley’s exquisite but expensive humidor to Eterna’s eye/hood-popping KonTiki Diver.

The disaster of the week was the warehouse fire that claimed 4% of America’s hops harvest, just as we were telling you how to survive a fiery plane crash and Australia began preparing to grow moustaches to cure cancer.

Otherwise, it was a sprinkling of the usual – jogging with parachutes, anyone? Gourmet shaving? Argyle scarves in the office? Eco-friendly alcohol? Yep, nothing out of the ordinary.

And, just like the Big O, it all started to sound the same, at times the output was patchy, and it was all over too soon.
