This fine piece is an interesting mix of uniform clichés – the drab, rough olive is reminiscent of Tommies in the Somme, while the ribbed collar recalls Sopwith Camel pilots and the two rows of brass buttons have the ceremonial look you’d expect of the marching band’s piccolo player.
