Bentley humidorIf the veneer on this humidor looks a little familiar to you, then congratulations, you’re able to afford it.

For the rest of us, who aren’t as day-to-day familiar with the inside of one of their cars, there’s the simple pleasure of just admiring this Bentley humidor from afar.

Made of solid walnut, with that famous Burr walnut veneer, this isn’t just a regular old humidor badged up as some tacky motoring merchandise. These units are handmade in England and feature an encapsulated winged B logo, hallmarked silver details and Credo humidifiers and hydrometers. And at 15″x9″x7″, they aren’t small.

Neither are they inexpensive. If you’re a Bentley owner already, then the $6000 price tag shouldn’t be a concern. As for the rest of us, we can just sit back, admire, and take another cigar from the shoebox…

wetshaving

If you’re the kind of man who quickly grinds a Philishave across his face for a minute on his way out the door to work, then you’re missing out. Forget extreme sports, religion, family or the arts – the fulfilling pastime you’ve been seeking all these years is right in front of your face.

While our wives and girlfriends have long understood the pleasure, satisfaction and relaxation that pampering oneself can provide, we’ve been depriving ourselves for the best part of a century.

It’s time for all of that to change. Shaving Stuff have unearthed the amazing Guide to the Gourmet Shaving Experience, a step-by-step guide that takes the reader on the entire wetshaving experience – from the decision to make the giant leap to safety razors, to in-depth discussion of everything from technique to shaving brush stands.

As philosophical as it is technical, it’s one of the few shaving tutorials that focuses as much on why as how:

I have discovered that the focused attention and meditative mindset of shaving with a safety razor can produce a Zen experience in the morning shave.

Most of us live hurried lives, multitasking and rushing. What the morning shave with a safety razor offers is a small oasis of unhurried calm and single-minded attention to remind you of what it feels like to take your time and not be doing one thing while thinking of something else.

It’s as compelling as it is comprehensive. You’ll never grow another beard again…

D & G Military Jacket ArmyWe want you to forget that you ever wore a pair of camouflage cargo pants in high school. Yes, yes – they seemed a great idea back then, and now every time you look at those photos, you wish they’d never been sewn. And you swore you’d never wear faux army uniforms as casual wear again.

Put all that behind you – D&G are here to restore your faith in military revival with this amazing jacket.

This fine piece is an interesting mix of uniform clichés – the drab, rough olive is reminiscent of Tommies in the Somme, while the ribbed collar recalls Sopwith Camel pilots and the two rows of brass buttons have the ceremonial look you’d expect of the marching band’s piccolo player.

D&G’s entire men’s range this season is military themed (their naval shirt is certainly a sight…) and it’s made us wonder about their direction. Could it be that Domenico and Stefano have tired of the retail jungle and now decided to join Halliburton and the Carlyle Group in the lucrative world of defense contracting?
