Some cigars look good on paper. Many of us like to get wrapped up in talk of a leaf’s history, the prestige of a brand and the amazing story of one stogie’s production.
And one such tale was that of the Partagas 160 Signature Series. Firstly, the use of 29-year-old Cameroon wrapper (the same used in the Partagas 150) is enough to excite many. Secondly, Partagas are, well, Partagas. The Havana factory is world’s longest-running and its reputation is legendary. And finally, the 160 Signature’s story tells of one cigar master’s tribute to legacy of his mentor. A special cigar, no?
Well, no, not according to this review (the first piece we’ve read where someone has actually smoked the damn cigar)…
The overall impression was of poor quality ligero surrounded by cheap, earthy Mexican filler and wrapped in newsprint… I would have been better off crumpling up a 20 dollar bill and throwing it out the car window; at least I wouldn’t still have this nasty taste in my mouth.
The moral of the story is to read the review before you buy, not just the bio.

To like or love a Partagas 160 you must first like Partagas cigars. There are hints of the Partagas flavor in the smoke. Normally I smoke a 49-52 ring cigar but with the 160 series I find a better smoke in the smaller ring sizes. This also was true with the 150 series. I smoked many 150 Partagas and she smaller rings were the most flavorfull.

Robusto started out perfect. Burned slowly with multitudes of smoke. Very subtle flavors-expected because of the age. But very pleasant smoke. The perfect ash held on for 1/2 the cigar. A little strong and it left me stopping after just 1/2. Or maybe it was just that night?
This is a cigar that must be smoked if you are a cigar lover.

Best 2 boxes I’ve owned. Savored each one to the nub. Keeping a few for special occasions.

I smoked a few 160s this week and enjoyed them. I would compare them to the La Aurora Preferido.

Well, no comment on the 160, but I just finished smoking a 150 - my first time. What a dissapointment. This was a very expensive cigar with little taste. What’s worse is that it got closer to the but it became quite bitter. I expected this to be the cigar to end all cigars based on the price (and some reviews). After this, I have no desire to even try the 160. I much prefer just about anything from Ashton, La Flor, Gurkha, or Montecristo. Save your money.

I have smoked many of the 150’s and 160’s and love both of them. They have complex flavors without the pepper. I believe many confuse pepper with flavor, aroma and taste. Don’t miss this one!

There are two scotch drinkers, one drinks johnnie black and the other drinks 30+ year aged single malt. If you cant figure out the moral of my story then dont smoke a 150 or 160. There arent many out there and some of us really appreciate them!

160s are a joke. Just another piece of crap cranked out of the General Cigar factory of plonk. Mexican filler on 29yr old Cameroon? Eh, cutting corners maybe? These things are practically flavorless and I’ve smoked 5 with consistent results. If they hadn’t been free I’d be really ticked that I wasted my money. Partagas fan or not don’t waste your money. Leave them for the trophy hunters who don’t know any better.
