The mulberry tree is considered a weed by some, but this summer I encourage you to seek out a few sources and collect as many as you can. These flavorful - but fragile - berry tree only blossoms during the mid-summer months and offers up a delicious and free bit of refreshment.
The taste is a bit cloying, but it’s very unique and I’m really not sure how many people know that mulberry trees are all over the place - all you have to do is look up. I just ate a bellyfull today and a little ice cream in a thermos and some washed mulberries fresh from the tree will make a great picnic date dessert.
