From AudioMonger.com - According to LiveNewOrleans.com Cafe Siam and the Dragon’s Den have been served an eviction notice. It’s a shame, because Siam cooked up some of the best Thai food in the city and the Den was definitely one of our most distinct venues.
I’ll always remember climbing up those treacherous stairs, wondering what flavor of performer would great me when I reached the top. The place was always a little too hot, but everyone sucked it up for the sake of good music. It was located on Esplanade, right outside of the fray of Frenchman St.
Like many New Orleans venues, Cafe Siam and the Dragon’s Den have been closed since Hurricane Katrina–I expect the Blue Nile is next. The fact that so many New Orleans nightlife landmarks are falling does not bode well for the city in the slightest. Everyone claims we’re on the rebound, but to me it just feels like a death rattle….

Cafe Siam had the best Thai food in the city? I humbly disagree. Maybe at one point the food was OK, but quality had suffered for years. Now the space is being put the better use by Z’otz, a funky little coffee house. Haven’t been to the Dragon’s Den upstairs yet since it reopened, but I’m going to go one of these nights.
