We love our D.Freemont and these new divers are no exception.

10 ATM, Sapphire crystal, 2892 ETA movement with adjustable secondary time zone, and a power reserve indicator…a great 40mm Diver with a pedigree. $750 post paid. Your choice with black water resistant strap, and black dial markers - or Cognac strap and dial with gold markers. Both have deployant buckles.

D.Freemont is very affordable and very attractive. He uses only timed Swiss movement. I encourage you to find a GMT diver in this range for the same price. Can’t be done. MMMMMM…

holly_watch.jpg
Buddy Holly’s Omega is up for sale in April and it’s a beaut.

The diamond and white gold Omega wristwatch is inscribed on the back, “Buddy Holly 12-1-58,” the date his bride of four months gave it to him as an early Christmas present. It was recovered at the site of the plane crash by investigators and later worn by Holly’s father in their hometown of Lubbock, Texas.

(alternate text)From Slushpile.net - Jay McInerney, literary chronicler of New York City, stood in his large window struggling with a broken shade. He wasn’t actually paying attention to the view–he’d seen it many times before: the wide expanse of water towers and fire escapes, the blossom of Wall Street, and the Twin Towers lurching out of the sea. Focusing on the errant shade, he glimpsed a flash of red-orange on the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

“God,” he thought. “That almost looked like a plane hit there.” He returned to the window shade. And then his phone rang.

“When I turned on the television, I was looking at the same view that I was out my window,” he says. For the next two hours, he watched the catastrophe through his window pane. In the following weeks, McInerney volunteered at a soup kitchen feeding policemen, iron workers, and rescue personnel. But the haunted scene from that window and the sensation of that red-orange flash drove him from the apartment. He moved two months later, unsure if he would ever write fiction again.

Six Demon Bag
From AudioMonger.com - Man Man’s Six Demon Bag plays like one of those mystery concoctions you made during lunch as a kid. You know the one where you mixed a lot of food that shouldn’t go together. Ketchup, mustard, milk, maybe some bread, whatever else was available. Then you probably dared your friend to eat it for $5 or something. Well imagine your creation was actually incredible. Consider that all of those conflicting components rendered something far greater than practical knowledge would allow you, or your friend, to assume. You’ve created the next big thing. Alabama adopts it as its state food. Everyone loves you. That girl you’ve been eying since first grade finally talks to you. Things are looking up.

Dragons Den (New Orleans, LA).jpg
From AudioMonger.com - According to LiveNewOrleans.com Cafe Siam and the Dragon’s Den have been served an eviction notice. It’s a shame, because Siam cooked up some of the best Thai food in the city and the Den was definitely one of our most distinct venues.

I’ll always remember climbing up those treacherous stairs, wondering what flavor of performer would great me when I reached the top. The place was always a little too hot, but everyone sucked it up for the sake of good music. It was located on Esplanade, right outside of the fray of Frenchman St.

Like many New Orleans venues, Cafe Siam and the Dragon’s Den have been closed since Hurricane Katrina–I expect the Blue Nile is next. The fact that so many New Orleans nightlife landmarks are falling does not bode well for the city in the slightest. Everyone claims we’re on the rebound, but to me it just feels like a death rattle….

From WristWatchReview.com - I’m thinking long and hard about picking up an ORSA Sea Angler. This thing looks really nice, very well put together, and I’m very pleased they’ve gone from an EBay-only brand to a producer of quality automatics.

45mm… mmmm beefy.

timeface.jpg

From WristWatchReview.com - The Pathfinder PAG-80 looks like something Angelina Jolie would wear along with some short-shorts, a tank-top, and a rocket launcher. Essentially it’s a watch that looks like you can use it to start a nuclear war but is surprisingly elegant and easy to use.

The PAG-80 has three major features - a compass, an altimeter, and a barometer. These are relatively standard features on wrist computers and while the technology behind these features haven’t improved much over the years, they’re extremely useful in a pinch and quite fun to show off. It is also solar powered, ensuring you’ll never have to swap out a battery.

flaminglips.jpg

From AudioMonger.com - At War With the Mystics, the forthcoming Flaming Lips album, has surfaced online. The album’s official release date isn’t until April 4, so that’s nearly a two month advance.

Additionally, in a recent announcment on Toolband.com, their editor wrote:

As it now stands, in a few weeks (mid-February) the members of the band (except for Adam) and their manager will be traveling to parts of Europe, England, Japan and Australia on a bit of a promo tour, meaning that they will be meeting with record company people and doing various interviews with the press in order to promote their new record and upcoming tours. Although any press releases are usually timed to coincide with the release of the record, there will undoubtedly be leaks, so those of you who scour the internet should be on the lookout around this time.

It’s interesting to see bands beginning to acknowledge the fact their albums will be leaked online. I wonder if it’s any indicator of a shift in the way musicians handle the piracy of their music. Probably not, but one can hope.

tag-heuer-carrera-mtc.jpg
From WristWatchReview.com - I never was in love with TAG Heuer, but these new chronographs are making my ears perk up. You’ve got two new models here, a new SLR and a new Carrera. The Carrera is the standard Heuer chrono, kind of avant garde, kind of traditional, but the SLR has some great lines.
