Larry McMurtry’s Roads is a pseduo-memoir slash adventure slash travel novel. Don’t expect a cross-country romp ala Hunter S. Thompson, but if you’re a fan of McMurtry’s western novels (or not) this may give you some insight into the mind of a fiction writer as he travels down the road.

This book turned out to be a lot different than many of the travel books I have read in the past. Be prepared when you read it for a glimpse of adventure, not a search for significance or of a finding of the meaning of life for the author. In the introduction he tells you he is in the travel for the looking, nothing else.
