TSL founder, blogger extraordinaire, and gadget god John welcomed his firstborn son and heir into the world today. A healthy, strapping young lad, the young Biggs weighed in at an impressive 9.5 pounds, with a wrist big enough to sport a 44mm Panerai Luminor Marina with style and aplomb.

Congratulations to John and his lovely wife Asia. Everyone’s healthy and happy and as soon as the boy can type, John will have some free blogging labor.

From WristWatchReview.com - A hilarious review of a Swatch automatic compared to a JLC manual wind - which one do you think wins?

More importantly, there are a few refinements in the 21-jewel Swatch movement (an ETA 2842, a famous movement also used by Omega, Oris, and Raymond Weil, among other adult watches that you can find in your local mall) that the 19-jewel (two less!) JLC calibre 849 shamefully lacks. And what is this “calibre” business? It sounds like a canadian hip-hop reference. “Yo, yo, I’m Calibre 849 and Imma gonna bustacap in yoazz, and then go wolf down some poutine wi’ yo ol’ lady, cuz I gots all the Canadian Tire Money in the worl’, yo!”

A random eBay sighting prompted me to post a brief meditation about the 36 fret Hamer Virtuoso over at DistortionThatRocks. The beauty pictured here is rumored to have once been owned by Gary Moore. With less than twenty of these guitars made, this is truly something to hang on to and cherish.

It may not be purdy, but wearing a coyote on your head is the height of fashion in the Black Hills. Maybe don’t wear this around the city, mkay?

Relive the era of the mountain man with this authentic full-body coyote Mountain Man Hat. The hat drapes down in the back for added warmth and protection on your neck and shoulders. From reenactments of famed mountain man triumphs along the frontier, to displays and decor befitting America’s pioneers and settlers, the classic styling and authentic coyote hide make this hat a conversation starter at any gathering.

I’d second that.

Every man needs to know how to put together a fruit cake. At least you can throw it at your brother-in-law when you get jacked up on whiskey.

Keg lines are killer. You stand there and stand there and when you get to the tap you notice someone has sucked the beer straight out of the barrel and puked Cheetos on the top of the keg. At least that’s how I remember my Confirmation. Anyway. This is a four-spout tap for kegs that encourages sharing and faster beer handling.

What are they, anyway? Well, here’s how to make them. They sound like sweet prunes, which should be got after eating figgy pudding.

THE MOST KINDELY WAY TO PRESERVE PLUMS, CHERRIES, GOOSEBERIES, &c.
You must first purchase some reasonable quanity of their owne juyce, with a gentle heat upon embers, in pewter dishes. dividing the juice still as it commeth in the strewing: then boile each fruit in his own juyce, with a convenient proportion of the best refined sugar.

From WristWatchReview.com - Some beatiful work by the McGonigle Brothers of Ireland. Striking looks and workmanship.

So here you have it, a true Irish watch. The case is a prototype and not indicative of the expected final design, so please excuse any minor imperfections. The hands are of polished steel with 18K gold pointers. The dial is translucent sapphire with exposition at the bottom for the tourbillon cage, and at the top for the wolf toothed barrel.
