My father has been going to the same barber shop since his college days. He drives four hours one-way to see the man he wants (it helps that he often travels on business). I don’t remember the last time I drove four hours one-way to see the woman I wanted, much less a hair stylist. Apparently I’m missing out, so here are some tips on finding a stylist worth your driving time.
Finding a good stylist can be like searching for your next girlfriend. Ask around and find out which stylist or salon your friends use, or you can ask someone whose hair you admire. Perhaps you have seen a salon around town that looks cool and you’ve been wanting to give it a try.

I don’t remember where I read this recently, but I recall someone listing things their father passed on to them, that they wanted to pass on to their own children.
One tip was that when visiting a barber shop, pick the barber with the worst haircut in the joint. Because barbers cut each other’s hair. So the best guy is going to have the worst hair cut.
